Why would that help you? Knowing the name of your examiner won't make things go any faster for you. And asking to speak with your examiner directly just takes up that person's time, which will slow down the process. If there's a problem with your Form, they will contact you.

Also, as people leave and join the ranks of NFA examiners, I think the assignments change (so someone who was assigned all the "G-K"s might be moved to "U-Z"s or something like that.

On a related note, TOS has a good tacked thread with NFA timelines here:

Add your info and it will help others gauge the current wait times. For individual transfers, it looks like 6-8 weeks, for trusts it's something like 4-6 weeks. The fingerprint examinations seem to be the current bottleneck. This compares to 3-4 weeks for individual transfers this time last year.

I wouldn't get worried until about 8-10 weeks after delivery. If you want a way to pass the time, just prepare more Form 1s and 4s and send 'em in.

    Hope that helps.

Good post, that's the reason why I don't have any desire to call them, leave them be and let them work, God knows they have enough time off, between coffee breaks, smoking breaks, holidays, personal days, etc.

My reason for being anxious to get it back is I want to go get the upper and slap it together and go blasting at those mean little black circular threats with numbers like X, 9, 8, 7, 6 printed on them.

    **** UPDATE ****

    **** UPDATE ****

    Hey guys, especially Sam,

I have never been renowned for my patience, so after another two weeks I called back.

My Form 1 was APPROVED on Mon, 4/28, and went out in yesterday's mail!

So be on the lookout Sam, sounds like yours should be on the way too!

Yea! Hopefully I'll be off to the range this weekend!

Congratulations RD62. I've been on pins and needles since Saturday. My buddy got his stamp Saturday, he mailed his in 2 - 3 days before me. I've been like a kid on Christmas morning, running to the mailbox as soon as I get home. Today is exactly 7 weeks since they cashed my check. I have not called them and probably won't. Our gun club is closed this entire weekend for a huge trap and skeet tournament so I'll have to find an alternative outdoor club to shoot the SBR if the stamp gets here this week.

    Thanks for the update.

I remember when I got my first stamp back directly. (as opposed to the dealer getting it and calling me)

Anyway, the standard size letter envelope worried me when I first saw it. I thought it might be a request for additional docs/info.

No prob. Glad to give you the update!

I too have felt like the kid in "A Christmas Story" for the last month, rushing to the mailbox to see if my secret decoder ring has come, only to drag my feet back to the house with my head hung in disappointment....

Hopefully it will be here tomorrow or Friday, but I don't know I'll be able to head out this weekend either. My wife is finishing up Grad school and has classes and projects and stuff. Stupid higher education....

Anyway, looking forward to seeing pictures of everyones big boy toys!
