Recommend a Reliable .22 Auto, Suppressed

I've been running a tactical solutions on top of a Ruger Mark II and a GemTech Can. I've tried 9 different ways to Sunday with regard to ammunition that would make the pistol reliable, wait, make that semi-reliable. No joy. I'm done with it. I"m ready to trade in and just go with a new pistol. I thought the new Ruger SR22 with the threaded barrel might be a good choice but my LGS hasn't seen those hit the market yet. So - Who can give me good direction on a threaded barrel .22 semi-auto pistol that will run reliably with a can?

My brother has had luck with both a Walther P22 and a S&W M&P .22.

I am almost certain he is running a Gemtech can as well, I don't remember which model. Just that it had the Gemtech emblem on it.

He has probably a couple thousand rounds on both and I have never heard him complain. I know we went through 1/2 a 550 round brick one afternoon on his Walther and did didn't bobble.

He uses mostly Wal-mart bulk pack.

(He hardly ever cleans anything either.)

If you don't mind doing a little searching or having to deal with gunbroker, my recommendation would be a S&W 422. I have had very good luck with both the 4" and 6" models. The barrel sits below the slide so that the suppressor will not block your sight picture. You will need an adapter like this: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=334230210 to convert the barrel thread to 1/2x28, and a spanner to remove the existing barrel nut, but it's a simple operation.

I have a little time behind the M&P22, both supressed and unsuppressed and like it a lot. A friend has one as well that he shoots suppressed and raves about it.

Get an integrally suppressed Ruger MKIII

Typically the combo you have now is good, what type of issues are you having? I have the Ruger factory threaded 22/45 and a Buckmark and both have run well (one of the Ruger mags is a little rough and only like plated bullets). My experience with the P22 is poor but that is only unsuppressed. I've heard good reports on the M&P22 and SR22 but have no direct experience.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

The issues that I've identified are variable and inconsistent with regard the reliability. That's what's frustrating, the inconsistency makes it hard to nail down. For example, sometimes failure to eject and then tries to feed the next round into the occupied chamber, other times it ejects the spent case and fails to properly feed the new round into the chamber fully. I've cleaned the gun, lubed it properly, argh...

Very cool! However, i regularly switch out the Gemtech between my squirrel rifle and paper weight pistol.
