    1-6 and 1-8 Optics

Has anybody seen a review on the Leupold Mk6 1-6x20 vs. the Bushnell Tactical Elite 1-8.5x24? I am very familiar with Leupold quality, but am lacking in Bushnell Tactical Elite knowledge. Thanks.

    Do you mean the 1-6.5?

The Bushnell is so new that I don't think you'll see any reviews of it just yet. It was announced at SHOT in January.

I played with one while I was at SHOT and was pretty impressed. It's a good, solid scope. Price will be a problem for them though, it seems the street price is just north of $2k.

My bad, I thought that you may have been trying to compare similar optics (1-6 vs 1-6.5 or 1.1-8 vs 1-8.5) and had a mis-type.

I don't know anyone that has hands on the 1-8.5 in evaluation.

Sorry to butt in with no useful info.

I believe it will be available for about $200 (or so) more than the Leupold. With an 8.5 upper end it would be worth it to me if the optical and build quality are in line with the Leupold.

That's the rub. Bushnell deserves the "Most Improved" award, and are turning out some very good product. The 1-8.5 I checked out seemed like a very well made scope, but I don't know about long term durability in comparison to the Leupold. They do have a lifetime warranty, so that may make it worthwhile to try it out.

Still can't seem to find ANY reviews on the Bushnell 1-8.5x SMRS anywhere??? One dude on SniperHide says he has one and the illumination is "Daylight visible" but thats it. Wish they would offer this one with the SFP reticle as well as the FFP.

    I found this one:

That is about it. I have also been looking at that scope but would like to read more on it before I spend the money on it. I do have one of their HDMRs and it is rock solid and a great scope.
In no way do I make any money from anyone related to the firearms industry.

I did a T&E on one of their 1-6.5x Elite Tactical scopes and the only thing I found lacking was the cheap plastic turret knobs and the illumination was not daylight visible. Looks like the turrets on the 1-8.5 are rock solid as they are the same as the turrets on their HDMR line. Now of they improved the illumination this it might be the best 1-8x bargain on the market.
