    low T at 26!!!!

I need help with a very serious problem. My father was diagnosed with low t several years ago so I decided I would begin checking my levels to prevent any problems. Well problems I got.

First year they checked out at 460.total test. Low but not abnormal. I did notice a decrease in sex drive but just attributed it to stress and coaching half the year. I also noticed weight gain and not of the muscle variety.

This year I came in at 288. I have felt like crap most of the year. Very low sex drive, little to no gains in the gym, diet is spot on and still getting man boobs, hard to find motivation to do anything really. I still made it to the gym 5 days a week and cardio 3 days at 20. Min each session and still no change, also sustained high blood pressure. 180/80-90s

The doc called me back with that number today and I have been depressed all day. I feel like genetics screwed all the hard work I have invested in myself over the past 8 yrs.

Going to see a specialist tomorrow I hope this gets sorted out and they start some kind of treatment.

I understand that this will continue the rest of my life.

What are my options? Any experience is very welcome.

Thanks for listening to my crybaby post.

Sorry to hear that brother. I might be in a similar position. Low energy/sex drive. I mostly just attributed it to poore diet and lack of sleep but a while back I discovered a slightly painful lump in my scrotum. I don't know if its connected to these issues but I have a doctors appointment later in the week to find out.

    Good luck

Good luck, and I hope it isn't serious. I found a lot of info I am taking with me to the urologist today.

First of all congratulations for being tested. There are many factors that can cause low T. Twelve years ago at 24 I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor. In my case I had a blood filled tumor that "leaked" into my spinal fluid. Blood and spinal fluid don't mix. The blood causes irritation and swelling (migraine headaches). I went into the hospital the healthiest I have ever been at 205 and came out at 180. During my stay the removed the tumor, and part of my pituitary gland. I started T replacement therapy six months later. I have been taking Androgel 1% for 12 years, and recently switched to 1.62%. If your insurance will cover it Androgel or Testim is great. They are expensive, so an alternative would be Testosterone Cypionate. T Cypionate is a viscus oil based formula that you would inject into a Muscle group weekly or bi-weekly. It helps, especially if you body is producing some T. It is much cheaper than the topical products, but hurts like a mother****er after injection. You can have a fulfilling sex life, and get your old body back. I ballooned to 260 after surgery, and I'm now working hard to get back into shape. I now hit the gym 5 days each week, and I'm down to 223. This is by no means a death sentence many men go through this. The most important thing right now is to know the underlying cause.

If you want to talk more about it PM me with a number, and I'll give you a call.

We see men at younger and younger ages with low testosterone and the exact reason is unclear, and may be a combination of factors. Your options depend to some degree on the cause(s), if they can be found and the approach of the doc, which can vary.

I have various articles here relating to the topic which can be found on a search, and a vid with additional reading below it here:

Thanks for the encouragement. Can't do topical gel wife is 6 months pregnant. It took a lot of trying to get Beau on this earth don't want to mess up his development.

Injections seem like it may ne easier to control levels.

I'm only 27 here. I have an issue with my pituitary gland and it doesn't tell my body to create testosterone. when i was screened several years back my free testosterone score was 11. I had none, I felt like shit all the time. Once i got started with the replacement therapy, it made a marked improvement in my life.

I used the topical gel for about a year then switched to injections. I hated the gel, I always felt sticky and had to be careful about who I touched with it. I do once a week injections, it's much better.

Injections are convenient, but it is generally better to received metered doses rather than lump doses. The injection causes an initial spike, which could have side effects. I suffered severe anxiety on the injections because my dosage was to high. It was so bad I refused to adjust the dose, and insisted on going to the topical. The gel is a pain, but four pumps of 1.62% is no where near as bad as eight of 1%. I do have to be cautious when I'm not wearing a shirt.

I understand about the child. I was told I'd never have children without some form of pharmaceutical intervention. Amazingly enough my wife got pregnant in 2006. My Dr. was surprised to say the least. In fact the nurse in the OBGYN's office was working for my Endocrinologist when he told me no kids.

What was your dose and injection schedule? Lower doses done once per week prevent large spikes and drops (as the half life of the ester overlaps) seen with large doses done every 2-3 weeks.*

Some docs know that, some don't. Finding a doc with experience and knowledge of male TRT/HRT is important to avoid such issues, as well as others that can arise.

    * = In the US, via injection, only two basic esters of T are generally offered, so above is specific to US. Other countries have T blends and or longer acting esters of T.

Im 37 and after blood test last year my Testosterone was way low.
Doc put me on some kind of cream I rub onto my body.Did that for like a month and had a severe anxiety attack and quit it. Doc said it was not what caused the anxiety. I beg to differ. After a while I didnt take anything but about 3 months ago I found some stuff in a health food store called Tmale. I have been taking 2 capsuls a day for a while now but have not been back to doc for blood work yet to see if it is working or not.
