    High Standard M1911A1's

Browsing the local Cabela's today and happened to see a 1911 in the case made by High Standard. Looked to be in standard GI configuration as far as I could tell (didn't handle it).

Not really in the market for a 1911, but is this company a relative newcomer in the 1911 market? Can't recall seeing this brand in the past, and I'm told that some parts (maybe all, I don't know) are made in the Philippines.

They wanted $449 for it which, knowing Cabela's, is probably $50-70 more expensive than elsewhere.

They have been out for at least a few years.

read a gun rag article on them about a year or two ago. Basically said for the money they aren't bad, also a good project gun.
