This is exactly what I've been looking for. Not sure if you've got one, but if so does it really focus down to 10 yards?

I sometimes shoot 10 Meter offhand competitions (tiny little targets) and have found that various manufacturers' claims of "10 yards to infinity" are often bullshit and 15 yards is the best I can get.

Just curious if you happen to know off the top of your head -- if you'd have to go check please don't bother taking the time.

Yeah, I've got a couple of them on some rimfire's. They work well enough.

From what I've seen, they do come down to 10yds... if not even closer.

It's second focal plane and more money, with no parallax adjustment. Would make a horribly bad rimfire optic.

What optic is ffp that's under 400 bucks? Thats actually worth owning. Do you need a ffp reticle on a 22? will you be engaging movers at extreme diatances? Also that have a mil reticle and mil adjustments? I use the same scope on my 22 and have no problem shooting 10 yards to 200 yards. Horribly bad? Not quite sure about that.

So you're advocating an optic with a parallax permanently set to 100 - 150yds as a good 22lr optic?

Use whatever makes you happy. Keep handing out that advice, and those taking it will learn for themselves.

    For $250 and under I would get a Burris Fullfield E1 3-9x.

For $300 you could get a Weaver Tactical 3-10x40, which is mil/mil (Midway USA special model, on sale) and has pretty good glass, or a SWFA SS fixed 10x, which has adjustable focus down to 10 yards.

For around $400 there is the Burris MTAC 3.5-10x42, which has adjustable focus, surprisingly good glass, mil/mil and a G2 mildot reticle.

The cheapest FFP I would bother with is the SWFA SS 3-9x42, which is quite a good scope. For $600.

Of those I think the fixed power SS makes the most sense for a .22 trainer.

Probably gonna get some hate for this one... but.. it's a .22 - unless you're doing competitive shooting, a BSA or UTG would probably be more than enough. With all the money you save you can buy 5000+ rounds o' plinking ammo and some popper targets.

I would personally go with the PA scope. I use PA optics on all of my 22LRs...

decent low cost 3-9x mil-dot scope for training rifle (.22)

Mueller 4-14 APT is a great scope for the money. I run one on my CZ452.

The ability to crank it up to 14x helps spotting little 22 cal holes at 100 yards.

Mildot reticle and 1/4 MOA adjustments are not a good combo on a center fire rifle, but I have found no issues on a 22LR.
