+1! But, I would have found it IMPOSSIBLE to keep myself from loudly questioning his intelligence. I would demand he replaces the destroyed parts and the he pay to make it right... but, that's just me.

The instructions clearly state how to install the muzzle device. You need to go back to him and tell him to fix the issue. If he is careful (which I highly doubt) he will be able to drill the pin out, correct it and then re pin it.

In any case he needs to own his mistake.

This is also another reason why I highly advise against pinning a flash hider/ comp unless it is absolutely necessary.

Oh man, IG hit the nail on the head. If you aren't going NFA, get a 16". No reason to pin a device to end up with a hair shorter rifle at best.

AGREED. That 1.5" of reduced OAL is hardly worth the possible problem on a non-NFA carbine. Other than the tacticool factor.....

I'm gonna try and see him today after my wisdom teeth surgery(if I'm up to it) I wanna get this taken care of ASAP I'm hoping he is good enough to just drill it out and re-pin it. I didn't look at it as closely as I should have, I was running late to a meeting and I got to him 10 mins before he closed.

I would send it somewhere like ADCO to have them fix it. If they have to destroy the comp I would try to get something back from your smith but, I would not let him do any kind of work again.
He is all the way over here in the mountains of NC so I doubt you would run into him. He was reffered by a buddy who had heard great things about this guy, thats why I went with him. I won't slander him until I find out how he can fix the problem.

This sucks. I would go the gunsmith route first. I never realized how much of a pain it was to have a device pinned until I made mistakes and realized crap I cant swap out my barrel nut to change my rail (not a bad thing as I have a Geissele SMR). If Ihad to do it again would do 16" barrel and unpinned comp

Just shoot it upside down. This actually is an easy mistake to make.

Objects of the most stupendous magnitude, and measure in which the lives and liberties of millions yet unborn are intimately interested, are now before us. We are in the very midst of a revolution the most complete, unexpected and remarkable of any in the history of nations.
