    Longer 6940 rail

It looks like Colt may have their own solution for the short 6949 rail. Check out SMGLee's Colt pics from SHOT Show: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=122979

Thanx. I don't see purchasing an extended railed 6940 upper any time soon on my end, but nice to see it will be an option in the near future.

To alleviate the short rail on my scar I also added a stubby VFG at the end of the rail + extend the stock a little.

Beats adding weight with an extended rail there for me.

Edit: If your 6940 weighs anything like my 6940P, it's heavy enough for a 5.56 gun!

I would recommend swapping the terrible A2 grip with either a MIAD or MOE/MOE+, or try grinding off the front bump. It's one of the single best improvements to the gun.
I also like to use a trigger guard, grip, or gap filler to fill the gap between the trigger guard and grip.
There are also much better selector levers.
Good light mount can make a huge difference, I'm partial to the Danger Close and M600/300.
BCM even make their Gunfighter grip which does a good job IMO at covering the "gap".

    Will,

I'll send you an upper receiver if you can disassemble that thing.

Thanx for the generous offer Ken. What upper receiver did you have in mind? The 6940 is a monolithic design, so it's all one piece. Unless I'm misunderstanding the issue/offer, which is likely as I'm no expert on AR platforms. If I added a new upper receiver, I'd need a new barrel and new rail system no?

My hope would be that the barrel in your monolithic upper is not of some crazy proprietary design and can be removed and recycled into a "new" upper of standard design and dimensions. You would then be able to decide on a rail design of your like and choosing. Perhaps a C4 Centurion or similar so as to retain the use of your folding front sight.

I believe the barrel is a non standard design to the monolithic upper but I'll have to look again and or others can confirm. So, I'm 98% sure I'd be looking at new receiver, rails, and barrel.

That sucks. If you decide to go the build a new upper route, let me know.
