Thanx for the offer bro! From that "other" AR forum:

"It is well know that the barrel nut for the LE6940 was unique, but many have wondered if another standard AR barrel could be swapped in if the LE6940 barrel nut was installed - the answer is NO. Note the differences in the barrel extension.

Besides the beveled angle on the surface where the barrel nut contacts the barrel extension, there is a notch at the bottom which locates the barrel and prevents rotation, instead of the pin that we are used to seeing on top of a typical AR barrel."

I believe SAW can replace the barrel but don't quote me on it.

Thanx. It's not a major priority at the moment, but good to know.

By the way, you're right about the XTM handstop kit. I'll be taking it out to the range later this week but so far It seems like it was made for this setup.

It does seem that way to me too but I can't claim a wide range of experimentation with other set ups either.

    Will,

This is my set-up on a 7" DD Omega rail. While not optimal, it is most certainly usable. In your situation, it is at least worth consideration.

I recently saw a rifle with an adapter that put a small piece of Picatinny rail at the lower sling mount and the bayonet mount The shooter had a short piece of Knight Armament rail cover on this adapter. I think this particular setup was a cheap way to add a little "forward reach" while avoiding the burn hazard of the FSB when hot.

I use this exact set up, minus my lack of light. Just enough room forward of the grip to prop the rail on a barricade and not the barrel. Although I wonder how much that matters since I'm using the EZ CAR.

As mentioned above with pic on prior page, put an MP XTM handstop kit on it, and that's seems far better then the AFG I had on it. Gonna play with that set up for a while and see how that goes. Like so:

It's good looking set up, you could possibly find a KAC rifle rail cover and place on bottom rail and have it stick out over gas block. I'm not all for pegs and crap on bottom rails. I did use a KAC and CAA one in Iraq, not very often through. I find that thay are snag hazards and catch on straps, seatbelts and any damn thing around.
