    Elcan 1-4 vs Leupold Mark 6 1-6?

Looking for an optic to put on my scar 17 13" SBR, contemplating a leupold 1-6 with CMR-W or an Elcan 1-4 7.62. Also open to other ideas, except for the USO 1-8 as my Leupold CQBSS seems a little too big and heavy for the gun and as I understand it the USO 1-8 is even longer.

Main use is going to be shooting to 600 yards and in on steel and maybe going to run it through a carbine course or two later in the year. I briefly considered the swaro z6i but I prefer external adjustments (personal preference) and durability is paramount to me and I wonder about that adjustment lever.

If anyone has some insight/experience with some good 1-6 options let me know, I am not going to bother dreaming of the S&B 1-8 anymore although that seemed like it would have been the perfect solution. I also prefer a mil based reticle as a opposed to a BDC if possible since I doubt anyone makes a BDC for a 13" 308 at sea level.

I have no experience w/ the Elcan, but take a look at the Mark 6 thread for lots of info on that.

I got one about a week ago w/ the TMR reticule and I love it. Best scope ive ever owned.

I actually ended up ordering the Mark 6 last night and it should be here tomorrow afternoon. I was originally leaning elcan until I saw the exit pupil on 1x compared to the mark 6. Both seem abysmal compared to a short dot but hopefully it will be better than the CQBSS.

    Cool.

I really like mine. The only thing that i dont like is how the illumination reacts when you move out of the center of the eye box. This is the topic most discussed in the mark 6 thread. It will not act like a red dot until your eye is lined up properly.

Let us know how u like it

Did you not look at the Elcan Specter DR 1-6x 7.62? I have been trying to figure out which one to get as well.

If weight is an issue, might want to consider going with something lighter like a TA31, TA33, TA01, VX-6 or a nice lightweight 2-7.
