Sic semper tyrannis.
As others have stated, batteries are important. If possible add a grip or stock that will allow you to carry multiple cr123s. The magpul miad grip with the appropriate insert would be good as well as a magpul str or acs. Batteries in a range bag are great...until you're actually needing the rifle in a life or death manner and your batteries die and you're far away from your range bag. The grip is simple, cheap, and comfortable and a great insurance policy.

And thank you.
Battery life was brought up by several posters. It's also the most quoted reason for folks getting an AimPoint.
But I really like the Eotech reticle and display. Like you say, keep a couple batteries for when needed. They cost $2, so I didn't let them over ride a $ 1,100.00 buying decision.

battery life is quoted as an issue with Eotech because it (or the auto shutoff) doesn't allow you to turn the sight on and leave it on like the Aimpoints with life rated in the thousands of hours.
to my way of thinking this makes it an "offensive" tool, where you have time to pick up the gun, turn on the sight and adjust its brightness. I consider an Aimpoint a "defensive" tool where the light is always on and ready to go. both have their strengths, decide which way you need to use the gun...
