    When I read it I started to check if it was April fool's day when it was posted. The one of just changing gas block and mid gas tube one.

    It's designed to reduce muzzle rise. Duh.

    Yeah it pushes the rifle down into the support hand to help maintain rifle control in addition to mitigating muzzle rise. There's a lot sciency stuff and physics that I won't bore you with.

    Such a gem of an old thread.

    Back to topic, OP, please do let us know of you had any buffer/spring trouble and if you switched it out.

    You might need to go to a H-2 buffer. My midlength funtioned fine EXCEPT for it would not lock back the bolt on the last round. (using 5.56 XM193)

    In my case, a Spikes T-2 solved my problem nicely.
