I'm hoping that the street price ends up closer to 17-1800 and then a little down the road a second hand one sub $1500 will be attainable...

You hit the nail on the head here. Maybe some of them will start accepting other items, such as a kidney for example, in lieu of money.

Sure, but they're fairly late to the game, look at the contracts for the Leupy Mk8 and Mk6 lines, and even if it's at the request by some super secret squirrel unit, there's no volume in that. Not to mention that purse strings are getting tightened and purchasing seems to be winding down anyway.

They're going to have to rely on civilian sales to make anything off of this because I can't see those multi-billion dollar contract sales coming 'round the corner any time soon. Only problem is, they're not gonna sell many at that projected price point. Leupold doesn't have to worry about the Mk8 civilian sales because they already have a contract, Trijicon doesn't with this optic, and probably aren't going to get one of any decent size.

Hell, I want the -18 PNVG's cuz they're freaking cool, but I'm sure as hell not going to pay $40k for them. I probably would give a kidney for them however.

yeah, bud, i read it all...
the fin is "-ish" as in "same purpose, but not the same"

my primary (and poorly written) point was that this thing lacks the fiber optic reticle that arguably is one of trijicons main advangtages.
through my eyes, battery illuminated reticles have always been an unfulfilled promise...

and it still makes an ACOG look like a bargain, regardless, and i doubt it's 3x better than my accupoint.

I was excited until I saw that it weighed a pound and a half.

    Without the battery.
    Without the mount.

Yup, it definitely isn't the lightest on the block.

Any updates on the VCOG? I'd be interested to hear specifically about the comparison between the 2 reticles to be offered...

I spoke with Trijicon yetesterday as we are supposed to be getting the first unit for review.

In short, not yet ready to ship.

I'm really looking forward to that review, specifically how easy it is to pick the reticle up with both configurations at 1x and if it is daylight bright/visible at 1x.
