I like the Velcro cards. I own several shotguns and it keeps things simple. No problem with Velcro coming off the weapon yet.
Lord, make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true and my hand faster than those who seek to destroy me. Grant me victory over my foes and those that wish to do harm to me and mine. Let not my last thought be if I only had my gun. And Lord if today is truly the day that you call me home, let me die in a pile of empty brass.

I use the Esstac shotgun cards. I like the symplicity of being able to have extra ammo on the gun itself and being able to switch them out faster compared to trying to back fill a side saddle. It also costs less.

Has anyone tried the HSGI cards?

I prefer ESSTAC shotgun cards and industrial strength sticky back Velcro.

ive used a mesa tactical on my 870 for several years and its been fine.

it started out with a weak grip on the shells when i received it new, but MT sent me a bundle of their 'elastiomer' tube to cut and stick in there to replace what was obviously not up to spec.
dunno why the elastiomer in the new unit was weak but they were quick to send me more and it's held up well for several years.

i just pulled it off and velcro'd the receiver and i have to say i'm happier with the current setup. osoe, esstac cards both work well. great shell retention. the cards hold the shells closer to the receiver but they're not any harder to pull from when in a hurry, so there's that as well...

I have a Mesa saddle on the 870 and esstac cards with 3M industrial hook & loop on the 500. The Mesa is no doubt more elegant, but I prefer the velcro cards.

I just bought the industrial Velcro (about a 4 or 5 foot roll) and have it on both my 870 and 1100. The adhesive is very strong and I have not had any issue with it peeling or falling off. Even if you do, replacing it is simple. I like the SOE shotgun cards, but there are several good makers that have already been mentioned as well. I like using elastic holders over solid ones like from Mesa mostly because you can peel them off and replace them when empty. Also it seems (to me) a bit easier and faster to get the shells out.
