Those of you who are using the Surefire X300 on your AR/M16;How do you like it? I am trying to decide between the Surefire M951, M961, M600A Scout, & the X300. How does the X300 compare? How durable is it?

I like mine. They need a clicky tailswitch option, IMO.
Just ran my X300 thru 1300+ rds. in an EAG (Pat class). Have it mounted @ 6 o'clock, in an LT mount
w/a SF (XT) long gun switch, all on my 10.5". No issues & rock solid in the mount (expect nothing less w/ the LT).
Have sold one SF 910A, still have one on my house rifle. Like the 910 but hope the X300 (w/ a Micro-T) help w/
the weight issue, both seem too so far. Pat's 3 day was an all daylight one, soooo ........... CLEARLY more time needed
for nite/low light usage before the verdict is in.
HTH & YMMV.
The X300 is probably my favorite gp carbine light.
Protego quod vallo.
Si vis pacem para bellum.
Funny. I ran mine through 1300+ rounds at a Defensive Concepts North Carolina carbine course a couple of weeks ago and it did really well. I couldn't justify the LaRue mount, since I wasn't positive this would be a dedicated carbine light. The stock SF mount held tightly and I don't think I need the LaRue mount after all.
The X300 is a bitch to get on and off the rails initially, but the SF mount "softens" a little after a few installs onto the rail - making it much easier to adjust. I don't like the pointy switch. It works fine, I'd just rather have a clicky or an XM type switch for the X300.
IIRC, the output on the X300 is similar to the E1B? If so, it has plenty of light for my uses. My E1B illuminates the woods across the street (~60 yards) pretty well.
I would suggest trying the included "Rail Lock" system.
I have used a X300 located at the 6 o'clock position on my Commando since the end of last summer. It has performed flawlessly since and I would recommend it as an option to anyone looking for a weapon light. The only change I would like to see is the following set up for the toggle switch; (1) one flip is Constant On, (2) the opposing flip is Constant Strobe and (3) retain the Momentary On with the forward push of the toggle.
