    AR-10 Selection

I am in the market for an AR-10. I have a FAL which [I] really like. The FAL would be my choice for a short to medium distance 308.

I am looking for a AR-10 to fulfill a more precision role.

From what I have seen the High end AR-10's are unavailable or have very long wait times.

    Should I:

Order a KAC, Larue, LMT... and wait it out?

Buy a DPMS or S&W with the plan to replace the trigger, barrel and bolt?

Or follow another path. I am open to suggestions. Thanks!!

I would recommend getting a known performer that comes with a proof of precision target.

I can't comment on a specific AR-10 platform. What I can tell you is that I think the best general practice is to get it right from the start. It's well worth the wait and/or money to go with a proven design.

Have you considered a GAP-10 from GA Precision?

Yes, but when I called wait times exceeded 12 months.

I think that is pretty much the time across the board. That is KAC's time frame as of now.

From what I understand LaRue is not even giving a timeframe. So a known 12+mo wait may be better than an unknown one?

I really want an 18" OBR 762 and am trying to save up for one, but with the wait, I may as well order it and by the time it's ready, I'll have the money saved lol.

Appears LMT MWSE rifles are in the pipeline. Picked up new LMT MWSE at LGS 10 APR 13. Shipped to them on the 6th of April.

If I begin looking for a LMT MWS, should I be looking at the 16 inch barrel or the 20 inch barrel?

I understand the difference the 20 inch barrel will make on velocity. Will it have any effect on accuracy? Initially I won't be shooting over 500-600 yards but I would like to have the capability to further where the velocity would have a positive impact.

    Thanks!!
