    Mk18 pistol

Finally got my pistol configured the way I wanted!

    From this:

    To this:

Mk18-ish upper with DD 10.3" barrel and DD Lite 9" handguard.

    Nice.

That said, can someone explain to me why the world AR pistols make any sense, because I still don't quite follow the logic. Is this waiting on a Form 1 to come back or something?

For some of us, space. Great to throw in the back of a vehicle, or keep in a backpack. Some people like the all mighty gov not to know what they have so going the tax stamp route is out in that case.

I think it's really all preference. IMO tho, I think anyone with an ar pistol really needs a normal ar as well, as they serve 2 different purposes in the end.

People place the receiver extension against their shoulder and fire it like a collapsed carbine, which is why you typically see a cover over the back end. In this way they are building a functional SBR while keeping it as a legal "pistol".

Not every state allows a SBR...

Tracking on all, but I guess I see these and still think "port-firing weapon." Not jamming anyone's choices, and I certainly understand the restrictions that some are under -- I just tend to consider a good stock a fairly important part of a long arm.

Of course, in an age where many of us are using armor and plates, I suppose a receiver extension will rest just as well on your chest with or without a stock (and I use very little extension to begin with).

Just seems like 5/6 of a great rifle, that's all. Then again, I was never that great at fractions.

SBRs are not allowed in California. This is as close as I can get.

In its earlier configuration I shot it out to 100 yards standing, using the receiver extension as a "stock", and found it very easy to shoot good groups, not any different than achievable with a fully-stocked rifle of whatever barrel length. I also have a Blue Force single-point sling and the pistol has a QD socket for it in the receiver endplate, but its actually easier to shoot rifle-style instead of the forward-tension sling position.

Also in some states, one cannot have a loaded rifle in your conveyance but you can have a loaded pistol. Also one can cross most state lines with an AR pistol, where a SBR requires getting approval to travel abroad. Way less paperwork.

    OP nice pistol!
