Just noticed the "Caifornia Model" inscription referring to the 10-round maximum. Wow. I realize California residents are accustomed to the work-arounds and just do the best that they can, but I'm honestly not sure that I could handle life in the Golden State. I guess, conditions-permitting, this pistol is about as good as one can reasonably hope for. Makes a bit of sense, after all; at least, until the moving van can get there.

FH is the Phantom model with five equally spaced slots, which you can only get through Bushmaster. I just got the upper completed and haven't fired it yet. The original 11.5" barrel with A2 FH was surprisingly mild to shoot, and I hope the shorted barrel won't be much more severe.

I've contemplated a pistol build in .300 blk, since in MI we cannot have SBR's...MG and Suppressors are ok though.

The plan would be to build it, and enjoy it as much as possible, and hope that eventually we'd get the ok for SBR.

Like others said, we CPL holders can have a loaded "pistol" in a vehicle, but rifles have to be unloaded, cased, and in the trunk.

Another strange thing is that a pistol permit, or CPL is required to buy certain rifles/shotguns that have folding stocks/just pistol grip...I haven't looked into whether those are legal to have in the passenger compartment of a vehicle though.

Just to summarize all the good comments
1 Easy travel over state lines
2 Compact easy to carry ( back pack)
3 Some states don't allow SBR
    4 Stay under the radar
5 Easy to shoot (anchor) when using armor or LBE
6 Can carry cocked and locked in your vehicle with a CPL

Nice conversation, I like your pistol Wes its a mirror image of my own. I was a convert about half way through the first magazine when I forgot about not having a stock at all. When shooting a course of fire , I hardly notice a difference, my scores suffer a little but I am willing to trade off.

7 Far more lethal than any handgun
8 Far more useful range than any handgun

Thanks for the compliments on my pistol! I'm thinking it could use one of the the new Magpul handstops up front.

If you bump up to 300blk, you can do better than .357 Magnum in a 7.5" package.

I can't carry a rifle during deer season on my property outdoors without a hunting license for firearms season - AR pistol solves that problem as it's considered my side arm under my carry permit. They're also a ton of fun.

I agree with it not being your only AR too.

Took the Mk18 to the range today. Couldn't really tell any difference in loudness between this and the 11.5" barrel. Groups were dime-size at 25 yards off the bench. Super-fun little gun!
