    Meopta Customer Service Experience

I bought a KDot off a forum member last week, it arrived and everything looked great until I got it mounted and to the range to zero. I discovered that the cap covering the elevation turret was stuck on the turret and I couldn't remove it so zeroing was done until I could get it off. I got home and discovered it was really stuck; stuck to the point that the turret unscrewed out of the scope instead of the cap unscrewing from the turret. Giving the previous owner the benefit of the doubt when he sold it(I doubt he would have sold it without disclosure had he known) I contacted Meopta customer service. Expecting them to tell me to send it in at my expense for repair since I had bought it used I was shocked when I received the following email from Mr. Lara.

    Don,

Removing the turret breaks the nitrogen purge meaning it will fog. Call the number in my signature, have the scope s/n when you call. I’ll replace it .

I figured i would post this since we usually hear about customer service from pissed off customers.

They sent me a new scope with new warranty on a 1-4 with some issues with it...and it was used with me being the 2nd owner.

    Great people, great product.

Meopta makes great products, I have the 1-4 ZD, 3-12x56 RD, 10x42HD binos.

Their glass rivals more expensive euro stuff.

Huh, that was my scope! And yes, I did not know, and I am honestly stumped. I have heard of their excellent customer in the past and I'm glad that is unchanged. I never imagined you'd have needed to use the transferable warranty.
Again, I'm happy it worked out for you. And now you have a brand new one to sight in!

No worries AC, like I said in the OP I didn't think you knew. Things happen and it got taken care of; all is good. I couldn't remember who I had gotten it from and didn't think of looking at the feedback page. John took care of it and actually upgraded it to the newer ZD for a $100.
What happened was when you put the cap on it was cross threaded and really stuck. after the turret came out I actually had to put the turret in a small vice and use a pipe wrench on the cap to get it off.
