Leupold has their custom shop, they might have something available that would work better for your needs.
I don't hunt I am using a scope like this for three gun so I need it to be able to get me hold overs from 100 or 200 to about 600. Good to know they can docustom reticles. If they make a 3 gun version they will sell a fair number.

No real fix other than to just use your primary optic on the left shoulder and deal with it. Not perfect.

Just a note about weight as I hadn't see it mentioned in a quick scan of the thread....

Remember that 23 ounces when compared to the 17 ounce MK6, the VCOG includes the integrated mount but not the base. So, the weight should be something along the lines of 25 ounces. The 17 ounce MK6 will be closer to 23 to 25 ounces with the mount as well.

So, the VCOG is comparable in weight to the lighter 1-6 optics.

Plus, it's a true 1x, which is a plus for my needs. I was sold on the MK6, but I'm interested in the VCOG now.

According to Steve Fischer, who's been running one for a short while, the reticle is daylight useable. Others have said its brighter than the Mk6.

Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~ Paul Howe

Understood. I think they're probably hearing the same criticisms from lots of folks, so maybe they'll respond with something for 3 gunners.

Between the reticle and the CDS dials on mine, I'm pretty confident out to 500, but again, for minute of Elk/Deer/Coyote, I'm not shooting precision matches with them.

I was under the impression the SPR Firedot was the 3-gun option, since it's called multigunner...

I've got the multigunner model and called Leupold about switching out the reticle. They said there are few reticles they can put in it. I'd actually just prefer the regular duplex with a CDS dial.

Can a variable optic like this really replace both the ACOG and M68CCO?

I think a much better solution is two optics, similar to an ACOG with some type of offset RDS, than any variable solution.

ALL of the variable scopes on the market are way better at being scopes than RDS. Exit pupil/eye box, battery life issues, etc...

Offset solutions are problematic when using weapon mounted NVDs, as both won't line up, but when combined with IR lasers this is mitigated to a degree.
