A TR24 with horseshoe would sell like crazy.
    Yup....

For the VGOG they went battery vs FO. Was FO illum the technical limiting factor that precluded BDC in the Accupoints? A couple years ago a Trijicon guy on this board tried to cryptically explain that BDC wasn't feasible in the TR's - major re-engineering required.

BDC or SFP was never going to happen in the TR line.

Most people seem to want adjustable electronic illumination over fiber optics. Trijicons illumination technology is second only to aimpoint. This has the same LED tech as the TA02 and SRS, so I'd imagine battery life will be much better than advertised. Some countries also seem to believe you can make tactical nukes out of the ACOG tritium elements, so that's another reason why they've been moving away from fiber/tritium combos.

That being said, if trijicon wants to stick their 6x rector in the TR line, I wouldn't be opposed.

At least with the VCOG you don't have to worry about rings, getting the scope level, or purchasing a cantilever mount.

How do they not add bosses for a RMR mount?

Nice to finally see a scope maker get away from shitty coin batteries.

I have rewritten this post because it was confusing, my apologies.

I think this is going to be marketed to the military as a primary customer since they have been looking for a variable optic. This may turn out to be a great product but specialized gear is always going to outperform generalized gear. For shooters who aren't military, there will be better choices than the VCOG - and they are available already.

I see a lot of pictures with an RMR on or with the VCOG. Why bother with a 1-6x? If you're going to run an RMR, why not use a 6x ACOG?
    1. An off set red dot acts as a back up optic.
    2. It allows you to shoot close and far targets quicker without having to operate the throw lever.
    3. The power levels in between 1 and 6 are highly usable. At the Texas Multigun Nationals I took 8th in Open and my Swarovski was on 1.5X 2X 3X and 6X depending on the stage and I used my off set red dot on close in targets to avoid having to throw the power ring on the scope. Even with a cat tail it still takes about as much time as a reload, where simply canting the rifle is much faster.

Back on topic this scope looks like it has potential for use on my SCAR 17 patrol rifle depending on what the price tag ends up being. I like the long batter life and what appears to be rugged construction.

yeah, but most people shoot off benches.

    alaska, 8th! wow, nice!

honestly, in a more practical setting, where you had to run some of those stages blind, not knowing how many targets there would be, or how close they would be or when they would appear, what would you do?

i've been resisting the dual-optic setup, but i am warming up to it

In a real life setting I like the off set optic as well. Generally I would just keep my scope on 1x and dial up as needed. However say your in a situation where your on perimeter and your on a higher magnification and then your confronted with a threat up close like a charging pit bul etc. Its a lot faster to roll the rifle and use the off set optic than it is to reach up and dial the scope down or to just use the higher X and hope you can track the target up close.
The main weakness to an off set red dot is shooting from your support side shoulder where its pretty much useless.

The guys who want the daytime bright adjustable electronic illumination shoot off peoples faces.

I think those of us that lust for swarovskis will find plenty at good prices when the VCOG comes out.

I'm kind of a fiber optics guy myself. Hopefully they incorporate the 6x rector into the existing TR line.
