    Sherman tank close-in defense

    Thought the above study would be an item of "gee whiz" historical interest. They attached explosive-filled sections of pipe to the sides of Sherman tanks in an effort to create a close-range antipersonnel defensive device.

    Looks like it was unsuccessful. Too hard on the armor. Presumably there would be no friendly infantry in the immediate vicinity when the need to use this arose.

    Can you imagine what it would sound like/feel like inside the tank when you lit that off?
