    EOTech G33 Magnifier

Just purchased an EOTech EXPS2-0 Holographic sight and was wondering how everyone feels about the G33 3x magnifier.

I have the previous version G23FTS. It's a nice unit, but most of my shooting is 50 yards or less, and virtually all of it is less than 100 yards, so I only use it occasionally. The quick-detach mount is nice...I only attach the magnifier rarely, and use it between all of the rifles I shoot that have an RDS.

Sorry, those are just my observations about Eotech magnifiers in general. I've never used the G33 specifically.

Appreciate the insight, I was debating on whether or not to get the EXPS2-0 alone or it with the G33 in a combo pack but just went with the optic for now because I too shoot within 100 yards for the most part.

    I have a G33 & it works great. You won't be disappointed.

I own 3 of them along with EXPS-3.0's

They work as advertised. Don't forget to install the 7mm riser if you use them with the EXPS series HWS'. Those have the 7mm riser built in. If you don't you don't get the lower 1/3 co witness and they don't line up correctly.

Not true. The riser on the G33 does not effect the co-witness. I swap mine regularly between an XPS, EXPS & a Pro and there is no change between the three (even when they don't line up). Not even sure how you can "co-witness" while using a magnifier. The front sight, if fixed, is blurred & the rear isn't used.

I had a chance to play with one of these a while back. I liked it quite a bit. Even though it takes up quite a bit of realestate, its nice to have magnification when you want it.

Yeh, since it's just a magnifier it doesn't have to be centered or anything. I use mine with EXPS, 5-series without riser, Aimpoint T-1 and PRO and it works fine for all those optics in that the dot is well within the field of view, but it is nice to have it more toward the center, making it worthwhiile to have its optical axis line up more closely with the optical axis of the RDS.

    Somewhat off topic but...
Hmac, when you switch your magnifier between your 5xx to say the T1, do you notice a significant shift of the dot off center? (Assuming those 2 have the greatest height differences within your selection of RDSs) When I switch between my XPS & EXPS, I don't notice a shift off center but I'm just curious if there is & my eyes are just not picking it up. 7mm may not be enough to notice through a mag.

My magnifier has the 7mm riser installed. I can see a difference in dot location in the field between a 512 (no riser) and my other optics that are all mounted with a riser. It's not a huge difference and I don't find it distracting.
