That's normal. I see barrels like yours and others where the unthreaded portion is thinner than the threads which allows the muzzle device to pass over it.

Wow. Unreal. Okay. I'll leave it be then.
Shim kit it is.
Thanks again Robb.
Rant over. Still a royal pain in the ass.
Uh yeah. I did.
I could have sworn I mentioned that a few posts back.
Thanks for the input though big dog.
Perhaps my "bad mouthing" is warranted.
Ever consider that? Spend a ****ing mint on a carbine, jump through hoops like a chimp, wait 6 months, dress it out like a French whore and come the final step determine that the mfg of said rifle is too cheap to finish what they started?
Yeah. I'd say some bad mouthing is warranted.
If DD, Noveske and BCM can do it then LMT can too.
You left out Colt!

These are probably cut with a die or roll instead of single point on the lathe.
If Robb just told you it is normal why are you still bitching. I agree with Robb, it is normal. When LMT designed their rifle they were making it work with their parts not the parts you decided to add later. Numerous people have told you what to do to make it work and time properly. Give it a rest and drive on.
Matt
First off you chose to buy at that price. You chose to buy something not in stock or NFA and wait, both not the manufacturers problem. Problems with a new toy suck but try to be objective.
The second picture is just carbon build up from being fired.
The barrel threads look ok to me. There is an allowable radius at the base of the shoulder but I would need to measure it to say it's in spec. It's better to use a thicker washer with a chamfer if it's on the bigger side anyways.
i had stopped bitching until i was accused of bad mouthing LMT.
i'm as big of a proponent of them as you'll find.
2nd carbine I've purchased from them in as many years. that's why i feel i CAN bad mouth them.
i'm not stating anything other than the obvious and have every right to highlight their pitfalls and compare their work to other mfg's and vice versa.
i'm simply stating fact. plenty of mfg's take a final few minutes to finish threading their barrels those few extra tenths of an inch. it's a few cunt hairs for ****s sakes; however, it obviously saves them enough coin where they warrant it.
i think it's bullshit and i'll continue to say so until somebody locks the thread. it was a pain in my nutsack and if i had attempted to mount this brake to my BCM barrel it would already have 200 rounds through it.
i appreciate the input from Robb and others who offered their input.
