I'm just curious to see how many folks have a RDS mounted but also have a scope, in QD rings already zeroed that they can swap out when they want to do precision work?

America is not at war... The U.S. Military is at war... America is at the mall.

Good morning, my setup is as you described. I have a bobro qd mount holding a swfa fixed 6x that I use along with a qd bipod. I also have a eotech xps2 with the gg&g accucam mount. Normally, the rifle is set up with the eotech and the scope & bipod go on at the range. I know many people here think the eotech setup that I have sucks, but I really wanted absolute co-witness since I change optics almost every time I shoot. Nice to verify that I am at least close after remount.

By the way, I left the military many years ago. if I ever need this rifle as more than a paper puncher, the sh#t has really hit the fan since I live away from cities and don't sell drugs my .40 glock would be plenty to stop my potiental threats

On a side note..
I recently found that you don't NEED QD mounts/rings to save zero.
I moved my TPS ringed scope to a buddy's rifle, shot it for the day, then moved the turrets back to zero, and put it back on my Rem 700 and it was perfect.

Very true, but the QD mounts do make it a lot easier and don't require torque wrenches to be on hand.
My 18" SPR knock off is set up with a 2.5-10 and RMR in a LaRue that I use when want to punch paper at distance. The rest of the time an Aimpoint rides atop it in an ADM mount. Both mounts return to zero very well. Maybe if I were a better shooter I'd notice more POI shifts when putting the magnified optic back up, but at this stage I'm only MOA to MOA and a half capable due to my deficiencies as a trigger puller.
Are you sure about the whole dealing thing... Glock 40s are pretty hot for thuggin in the hood since the 40cal has been proven to give you a pretty significant increase in street cred over the 9mm and the polygonally rifled barrel in the Glock keeps you from having to ditch your piece if you need to ice a homie. Not to mention that the Glock40 was voted #1 for silencing snitches.
If I were wanting to be able to switch between a variable power and an RD, I would probably just put a micro or RMR on a 45 offset. No need to worry about losing zero or taking shit on and off your weapon. I would probably want to go with a QD mount if you are switching back and forth since QD mounts are a little more consistent than thumb screws ect ect

Street cred? Sorry, I live on a cul de sac, in the seacoast of northern new england. Violent crime is very rare. Especially of you don't go to bars and are a polite person like me. I stand by my statement. I do not expect to be the first person of the 400 year history of my town to have to hold off the hordes. Maybe a break in or some other isolated event, but the ar stays in the safe unless in using it, not by my bed. I mentioned .40 since it is the caliber of my glock, not to try and sound cool to some child on this forum.

I found a better solution is to have a mid power variable, say a 2.5-8 or a 2.5-10x with a RDS mounted in an offset position.
Currently, this is a Larue SPR mount with their RMR ring half. I like the idea of having the ability to remove both optics by just using the throw levers on the SPR mount, IE the optic is one complete unit more or less.
Aimpoint T 1 micro, ACOG and a USO SN3 1.8-10. Although I do swap them out between my issued rifle and my personal one.

Both of my ARs, 5.56 and 6.8 have a T1 and a scope in ADM mounts.
I switch between them for intended use.
