I'm going to contact LMT and see if they will sell me a few and I'll measure them out and post my findings here. Furthermore, I'm not sure which came fist but I'm curious as to what is patented on the A5 if LMT had this length tube years ago.
The A5 RE is just the AR10 CAR length.

    Been around for a while.

Armalite has AR10 REs available too.

Their patent is on the spring portion of the buffer internals and not the tube as far as I know.

Something is wrong with the upper.

check gas block alignment and leave a gap for the handguard cap.

An 18" rifle gas 5.56 should have a port larger than .093", which is the std for a 20".
Would the BCG have something to do with it? It's the BCG out of a Larue Stealth upper with an 18" barrel. I wouldn't imagine there'd be a difference, but that's the only other variable I can think of.

    Got busy. Thanks IG.

Last question for now, would a a5 h-2 or h-3 give me similar results with 5.56 and 300 blk or do I just have a freak of nature that seems to work with both or is it just the heavy buffer weight? I just find this strange...

If the BCG works well in the Larue, but not in the new SPR, I'd say the upper is the issue.

After quite a bit of research here and elsewhere I've come to the conclusion that I would very much like to have this system on my weapon.

Unfortunately, everyone else on planet earth now feels the same way apparently, as it's about as plentiful as woodpecker lips

Not sure if you realized this, but the kits from vtsupply.com are on backorder and have been for almost 6 months. The same for those buffers from Elite Defense.

The heavy buffer ones do not have the spring inside the buffer itself and are therefore different.

Tubes aren't hard to get really. It's the rest of the puzzle that's the problem.
