Jax, I've got a DD 14.5 midlength barrel that I've been sitting on for a future build. A5H3 is good to go?

I've always had good results with my A5 system using the standard buffer (the A5-H2 IIRC), provided I was using quality ammo. Come to think of it, I can't recall any malfunctions I would attribute to the weight of the buffer even with crappy stuff like Wolf. I think I'm going to give an A5-H3 a try and see what happens.

Not sure if this is the right spot for this, but just received my A5H4 buffer today, got home, cracked it open, and plucked out the tungsten and spring combo weight. Retrieved my LMT MWSE and ORANGE spring from Sprinco, cracked open the MWSE, removed the LMT H3 buffer and LMT action spring. Then lubed the new spring, installed the orange Sprinco, and then turned to the buffer. Cracked open the H3 buffer and plucked out the first tungsten weight, replaced it with the Vltor A5 combo weight. Re-corked the buffer, lubed it, and popped it in the MWSE RE. Looking forward to trying it compared to the factory buffer spring combo... will report back once I put some rounds through it.

From my experience, yes A5H3 is GTG with the DD 14.5 middy. (from my experience used in conjunction with a green Sprinco action spring)

I have run these Vltor set ups with a variety of buffer weights, due to not being able to get the standard A5. I could feel the difference, but none ever didnt cycle. The system continues to amaze.

Gunz , come out tomorrow AM. Its going to be ridiculously cool for AZ.
10:00 sharp and get a couple hrs in.

Finished building a lower with the A5 installed. Components consisted of the VLTOR RE10/A5, A5H2 buffer and Springco Green rifle spring. Mated the lower to my 16" SR-15E3 MOD1 upper. Ammo used was Federal XM193 55gr 5.56 FMJ. Magazines used were Magpul 30 rnd EMAGs.

Spent the first half of the range session shooting with the standard SR15 lower on the gun before swapping out with the A5 equipped lower. Although there was a noticeable difference in felt recoil, it was consistently short stroking. I could not get it to feed more than two rounds without stoppage, but mostly was only able to fire one round at a time before I had apply immediate action. Switched back to the KAC lower and it ran fine again. The A5 equipped lower is intended to be used with a Noveske 11.5" upper I plan to run suppressed, so I suspect it should run on that set-up with no issues. Unfortunately this set-up proved unreliable with my SR-15 upper. Didn't try any other type of ammo since I didn't have any on hand, but would've liked to have seen if the results would've differed with heavier loads. The rifle is already a smooth shooter to begin with, especially given it's now wearing a Griffin Armament NT4 compensator.

Very interesting, my A5 equipped SR15 mod 1 runs and runs with anything from pmc/tula to xm193. I have the factory spring and buffer that comes in the kit, but I was thinking about installing the Springco Green.

I doubt the Springco Green was the culprit here. I think it might've ran okay with a lighter A5 buffer. I wasn't surprised given the circumstances. Just thought I'd throw my experience in there as a point of discussion and consideration.

Were you runnin a LMT enhanced carrier in the KAC?
    My 14.5" KAC SR-15 E3 Carbine gun runs like a raped ape with the A5 RE, green Sprinco, A5H3 & A5H2, AND a LMT Gen 5 E-carrier...

Negative. I was running the standard carrier. I'm wondering if running the Griffin comp was having a significant impact. I made no other modifications to the upper besides that.
