Comp should not be a factor, the E-carrier makes the difference.
Do you have one to pop in? (or borrow a buddy's?)

mt,
Completely missed this post. Apologies brother. I would say yes but there have been a few who have the same setup and it doesn't work. That setup did have lock back problems at first. After some very short breaking in it has been perfect ever since and that initial problem could've been attributed to the ammo that was used. I usually run Bronze to check and see if the gun functions properly. Yeah velocities can vary but I haven't run into any bronze that runs hot.
I've mentioned this before but my rifles are pretty much clones-minus the buffer weight & muzzle devices-of BufordTJustice's middy. He got me curious with all his 'smooth shooting' talk so I tried his setup on two different rifles. Only difference between each mechically was: one rifle uses a DD barrel, the other a BCM. The BCM barrel has the BCM BCG and the DD has the LMT E-Carrier.
Buford's rifle runs an A5H4. Mine use A5H3s. Just haven't found a 4 to try out yet. Haven't really been looking hard b/c mine shoot so well.
Both rifles function great. I have swapped out carriers and they still run fine.
Polish the carrier's top and bottom rails with some 400 grit sandpaper. It can make the action super smooth and less friction can't be a negative.
Try it out Matt and let me know how it goes.

I read somewhere where a guy was running an A5 system, which ran fine at first, but then started having issues when he added a Battle Comp. I'll see if I can dig up that link later. WRT swapping carriers, the only other one I've got right now is a standard LMT FA carrier that's currently en route to Ayan so he can install my URX II and test fire the assembled upper. I would try swapping it out with a buddy's carrier, but I won't be going back to the range until next weekend at least.

Try the LMT enhanced carrier Gen 4 or newer swap and report back.

I have a few more data points to add. On an A5H3 equipped lower with a regular (non-Springco) rifle spring, these uppers ran flawlessly:
1) 16" DD Mid-length LW barrel, semi-auto BCG, Federal American Eagle .223, PMC Bronze
2) Spike's 16" Mid-length 5.45 upper, surplus 7N6
3) 14.5" DD carbine, BCM BCG, Federal American Eagle .223, PMC Bronze
You know if I hadn't sold off all of my spare LMT E-BCGsI would have gladly shipped an E-carrier over for you to try...

A request from the knowledge impaired. If you have it, or can get get it add the gas port size with the combination of spring, buffer and barrel length/type. This would give us a broader base to troubleshoot from.
I find the function of the weapon can vary with these combos and a different manufacturers barrels. GP size could help.
G, I think you will be golden running the LMT and the A5H3. Specially if your running decent ammo. I would not lose sleep over it just bring all the ingredients and work that
concoction until it runs smooth, cycles and locks back. Your not running it suppressed yet correct ? I understand people have had issues in the past and others have had great luck. As I said just bring a mix of ammo and see what she likes. You put the Geissele nitride SGB on that DD upper correct?
If it gives you issues even with all your hoardings of A5 buffers, springs etc I have the enhanced extractor spring, and I came across a A5H4 I could send you just to make sure you have the kitchen sink to try.
