IG, I asked this question months ago and forgot. Is the BCM 11.5" SS gas port .073? I can't remember. It's been running like a champ with springco green and a5 h-4. And funny that it runs good on a 9" 300blk also.
And anybody ever do the comprehensive lists of gas port sizes. Takes a lot if the guess work out of it for buffer spring combo.

I took my SPR out with the new upper today. Tons of short stroking and extraction/ejection problems. Two bolt overrides within 5 minutes, among many other things.
Rifle length gas on an 18" barrel, Surefire brake, Vltor A5 buffer system. My current guess is that there's too much weight in the A5 buffer, so I popped the pin out of it and yanked out one of the weights. Any other ideas? It'll be a week or two before I can get out to the range again.
As stated in the other thread.. you can't just remove a weight.
Who makes this barrel? If it won't work with an A5 standard buffer, then there's a problem.

Rainer stainless 18" match barrel. I didn't see the other thread that I posted in here anymore, guessing it got deleted?
Just something I discovered as I plunged into the world of LMT MWS owners. (soon to be anyways) It looks like the LMT MWS RE is identical in length to the A5 RE and can be substituted on AR15 builds when using a rifle spring and A5 buffer. I'm going to contact LMT and see if they will sell me a few and I'll measure them out and post my findings here. Furthermore, I'm not sure which came fist but I'm curious as to what is patented on the A5 if LMT had this length tube years ago.

I think it was locked... You can sub lighter weights in the buffer in place of the tungsten. But I'd be more interested in getting the gun right.
Sounds like not enough gas, but that could be several things.

The Rat,
Put the A5 buffer back to its original configuration.
Just taking out a weight is way off in the weeds.
Something is wrong with the upper.
check gas block alignment and leave a gap for the handguard cap.
An 18" rifle gas 5.56 should have a port larger than .093", which is the std for a 20".
