    Question

I have read this entire thread and understood most of it. I have not swapped anything yet in my ST lower but I have thoughts of ordering the BCM A2 Rifle and pin it on my carbine lower. My question is, if I do not change to the A5 tube/spring/buffer, what should I look at needing to change, if anything.
    Thank You

If you want to reliably run the rifle with a carbine lower then you should get a blue Springco spring and an H3 buffer.

Thank You for the info. I am not savy to the spring rates so is the blue Springco stiffer/thicker wire
or is it actually thinner/less stiff than the factory Spike's spring that would come in a 16" middy?
    Again thanks.

I was told that the Canadians run a carbine spring and an H2.

Worked for me when I tried it..

Great. I don't live in Canada so maybe it's a metric H2. I have built two different rifle uppers and used this exact same set up and it ran 100%.

Mathimatically... the H2 most closely matches the Rifle buffer system.

+1 to this with the addition that an H3 and a green Sprinco spring just feels better.

Due to the derth of A5 buffers of ANY weight I've taken to modifying rifle buffers and using carbine springs instead of the rifle.

Using steps as described so well in a previous post I've modded about 15 so far. Loading them to H3 weight and using a Sprinco Blue spring has garnered tons of customer compliments and repeat business.

I'm actually thinking of marketing the buffer/spring setup commercially.

Diemaco uses an H2 buffer labeled HH in the C7.

I believe the H3 comes closer IIRC. The rifle buffer weighs 5.1-5.3 oz. An H3 weighs around 5.3 (IIRC) and the H2 comes in around 4.8. Since we know most carbines and rifles are under buffered, I used an H3 and blue Springco and they ran 100%.

I agree with gunz on this one. My notes show that H2's are 4.6-4.8oz and all my H3's weighed 5.4-5.6.
