    I dont think so.

AFAIK, the AR gas vent is effectively just a hole in the receiver that lets excess chamber blowback vent away from your face.

It shouldn't really have anything to do with gas drive or cycling.

The only other thing to swap is the BCG with a known good milspec one.

The FZ coating does add thickness/texture and could change the amount of gas leakage around the piston.

tuning the bolt catch spring is somewhat like treating the symptom...

After all it's working without the can.... I'd be trying to slow that BCG down too, if it were my gun.

^This. The can is giving you the extra backpressure which is, in turn, causing the bolt to move faster than the bolt catch spring. I would try swapping the bolt catch spring to something a little stiffer since its a cheap/easy part to swap and go from there.

I would also suggest trying to figure out why your speed is up and try to sort out what the problem is. Can you confirm the gas port size?

This will make matters WORSE. The plunger spring needs to be lighter so the mag follower can engage it quicker.

Again... this is only treating the symptom.

Never used one that's why I was unsure about what it did exactly. Like I said earlier- I have the exact same set up to include the can and have used the same ammo and am not experiencing this problem. Only difference is I use a green Springco spring.

Actually... no difference as I failed to mention that I use a Green Springco spring as well!

Try a GI spring. Iraqgunz was just mentioning to me that a buddy of his observed that the Springco has different coil geometry.

Worth a shot... although I'm not sure how big a change in bolt speed an action spring can make.
