Going back to page one, I was a little surprised that Colt didn't release the commercial version of the M45A1/CQBP/Marine Pistol with the same roll marks that the issued gun got, rather than releasing it with the current starry USMC motif. Not so much because this had the potential to increase or limit the appeal of the gun in any substantive way, but wouldn't most guys just prefer to buy the same thing that the boys in MARPATs were getting?
Whatever the case, and however any of this came about, I'm still glad to see Colt producing these guns. Even in stock trim, the quality is definitely there. Admittedly, most of my CRG parts ended up in a plastic bag because of the way that we applied the upgrade package, but all of the factory stuff that came off of the gun was properly-fitted and well-made.

Quick question, are all CRG going to be Series 80?

Not necessarily.
Any S80 Colt can be returned to the original S70 configuration with no ill effect by removing the offending parts and installing a dedicated conversion spacer if it is a matter of any real consequence to you. I just happen to be one of those guys that finds the S80 system to be more of an asset than a liability, if indeed I bother to think about it at all.

I notice "I" shoot worse with a Series 80 1911.
Beyond that I worry that a conversion spacer will not truly render a Series 80 into a Series 70 and will somehow impact my performance and I don't want to spend $800 to find out. I also have a severe issue with the notion of having to "work" on a 1911 to get it right. I think any handgun costing more than $400 should work properly right out of the box, especially if we are talking Colts. For this reason I have pretty much stuck to Series 70s.
The idea of sending a new 1911 to a gunsmith to make it run like a 70 simply offends my sensibilities beyond words. This means I probably won't have a 1911 rail gun anytime soon, but as my 1911 is not at the top of my list for CCW or HD guns it's really not a big deal. It would simply be nice to have in the collection if it was reasonable to do so.

I know they have been out for a year, however I wanted to take another look while at SHOT. I had some questions regarding this platform.
Top of my wish list! Slobbered all over the keyboard watching the video. At 69yo will one come available for me before I croak? Or while I'm still strong enough to rack the slide....so beautiful....
