    Can you expound on this for those of us that are out of the loop? I don't understand the second portion of the statement.

    I believe the M45 is the MEU(SOC) pistol. The M45A1 is the CRG. The MEU(SOC) pistol was built in-house.

    The M45s are custom made guns, made by PWS at Quantico, VA, they were given that nomenclature around 2007-8 and previously were called MEU-SOC 45s. Because of the cost and man power associated with making each gun, and the requirements to often send them back to Quantico for anything other than routine maintenance the Marine Corps started in 1999 attempting to acquire a COTS replacement. After a somewhat controversial 3rd attempt a Colt rail gun variant was chosen and was designated the M45A1
