I don't remember you getting this back. Wow it turned out really nice...which is more than I can say for your "underwhelming" pic

I fell in love with it when I first saw it on a gun magazine cover. I'm a REALLY OLDE Marine and I'm sure that has something to do with it...I could afford the MSRP if one were ever available to me. Paying the premium would be a struggle. Glad they'll be churning them out until demand dies off because I WANT ONE....and I want what I want when I want it....there's no logic at work here - only craving, gun lust, the need to sit back, smile, and say, "I got mine."

    AC,

Is that a bead blasted melt job? That is what I have been telling a buddy to do. He wanted a Ceracoated one but I told him the ones I have seen look fairly cheesy (runs, etc).
If you aren't armed when you take a dump in your own home then your opinion on what is a practical daily carry weapon isn't interesting to me.

He got it in early November, actually a couple days before my visit to his home. I would have brought it to Chuck myself but there's this little sticky issue called ATF and FFL

My apology to any fans of the Colt Marine pistol or whatever they call it, but I don't like it. I don't like the serration, I don't like the extra thick rail, I don't like the paint job, etc. oh wait, but no one asked me.

I've always been a classic 1911 guy, never really liked any railed 1911s and never wanted one. But seeing and handling the Colt Rail Gun during the building process at John's shop and then the finished product, changed my mind just a little. If and I say a big IF, IF I ever to get crazy and get a CRG, I would have John do the same mods that he did on Chuck's gun.

Apologies for the underwhelming photography. The work was done on John Harrison's bench, and is simply extraordinary, just as you would expect.

Game. Set. Match. Wow, that is definitely the direction I was leaning. I don't think you can hone the CRG into more than you have right there. That is slick.

Finish-wise, it's a stainless gun that was just shot at about a 50-50 oxide/bead mix to matte it out a bit, yes. The work that went into it in terms of breaking the edges, surface prep and such was obviously more extensive, and done in conjunction with a fairly comprehensive customization/upgrade package. Not really a "standard" CRG any longer, but definitely the gun that I was looking for.

Agreed. My very favorite pistolsmiths have the ability to produce firearms that have that quality. You can call it functional art, or understated elegance, or many other things.

But you just look at it, and KNOW it's right.

    Very nice pistol, indeed.

Very nice CRG. I love mine. Would you mind sharing any new parts/smithing mods that were not on the original? Thanks.
