I've read a few reviews of this gun and everyone seems to like it. It's a little to expensive for my wallet, otherwise I would have it on my list. I've been looking at the Sig Scorpion instead.

All I know is that I got a CRG (stainless / black) last year and it is very, very accurate and reliable. I'm a Colt nut and own 8 Colt 1911's. my oldest is from 1917 and they all shoot well. Albeit I take care of them.

I have the same gun and mine has been fabulous. Changed grips and put a gold bead front sight, it's legit! It had a crazy soft recoil spring that I changed out, but ran fine with it.

I'd like to take one of these apart and shoot it.

What does the end user say?

Glad to see this thread hasn't gotten derailed by the standard anti-1911/M45/USMC M45 crew.

So far, the end users in the field have stated that the new Colt does exactly what it needs to do. Go bang every time and not stand out as a maintenance queen. I know boring right???

    1) Any government selection process has winners and losers. Normally the losers becoming whiners. This happens in everything the G buys from planes, trains to automobiles.

    2) I've seen piles of broken weapons of every make model and type. I've also seen the same comments regurgitated over and over when it comes to this weapon and selection process.

Where are you hearing reports from the end users? The gun has been in their hands for less than a year (contract was awarded in July 2012). I'd hope that any selection would not be a maintance queen in less than a year. Especially since the intensity of our ME conflict is essentially nil.

I've talked with a few guys from Recon and they all love it. To be fair they were issued M9s before so its not much of a comparison, but they said its extremely accurate and very reliable. I had the opportunity to handle one while I was deployed last year and I was personally very impressed with the quality.

I took one apart the other day. What's the deal with the dual recoil spring?

Increase service life of the recoil spring, and possibly to help prevent the frame from getting battered up.

Is a heavier spring not as durable?
