My old Redhawk loved the 300 grain XTP with a max load of either H110 or AA9 with a slight edge going to the AA9 in accuracy. I had Hogue fancy wood grips on the gun untill they broke, maybe splintered would be the right word. LOL. The Rugers chew this load up and spit them out, the same load destroyed my first 629. The cylinder was literally flopping open after every shot. There is a reason that many books have loads for TC Contender or Ruger revolvers only. I prefer the 629 with normal loads as it is much easier to pack along with a shotgun for deer hunting in Iowa but if it is going to be a dedicated hunting gun the RSR is hard to beat.
