    BOOM

NOT MINE.... friend of a friend from FB..... they are hog hunters in LA...

This is what happens when you load a .300 AAC. In a .223 ar. And yes it was my gun and yes he blew it up ! I will not say who it is but .. I bet he won't do that agian

the bullet can set back into the case causing it to fully chamber and BOOM

I would have never have thought that a 300Blackout would be able to chamber. Nice to know though. More reason to check what the hell you are loading into the gun. More so with me since it is not uncommon for me and my friends to have half a dozen or more different calibers on us at the range if we are doing any amount of serious shooting.

    .

I wonder if he had to use the Forward Assist to chamber the .300 round?

Did he get any shrapnel in his left arm?

    Red face

I think it was the rifle - spontaneously rejecting the UTG rail covers.

Hope he and any bystanders were permanently disfigured!

I was under the same impression, though I guess this isn't quite the same as 6.8 SPC in that respect, given that the case head diameter is the same as a standard 5.56mm; especially if the loading action rams the bullet back into the casing, given the impression of a normal chambering sequence. Even so, something about this just seems "off" to me, and I'm not simply referring to the left side of the upper receiver. It also seems rather odd to me that someone would confuse these two rounds in the first place, given the obvious physical differences -- to say nothing of the relative scarcity and costs associated with 300 right now.

    Strange.

Given the quality of the receiver and the choices made for customization...it does not in any way surprise me someone would think chambering a 'similar' round would produce a successful shoot.

Amazing that the upper was blown apart so violently. That could have killed someone.

It is possible to chamber a 300 BLK in a 5.56. With enough force, the bullet can be forced back into the casing, allowing the case to enter the chamber.

Doing the opposite, by trying to insert a 5.56 into a 300 BLK, doesn't create a problem. The cartridge is longer, and doesn't chamber. Even if it did, there wouldn't be much of a consequence.

Kind of my thoughts, too. I think the shooter did the owner a favor.
