i have a light that mic'ed at 1", but the checkering does not allow me to use this light. what lights will work with this mount?

Surefire 6p. Sorry if that sounds like a broken record. But it is a great light and bomb proof.

If you want more output there are a few options but it will cost you anywhere from $60 to a few hundred more.
But If you don't mind spending another $60 bucks, find an older used surefire 6p or G2. Don't worry about the out put,, just find a low cost one and then install a Malkoff drop in.
