Of course, Mister Martin failed to call the police, so I don't think he actually knew that much about dealing with stalkers and the like....

Who is "Mister Martin"? I keep seeing photos of this little kid (I better not use that gender-specific term that would naturally roll off the tongue) who was snuffed out in the prime of youth by a "white hispanic" who was apparently a cold blooded killer. Then I see these other photos of some thug young adult talking about smoking dope and wanting to kill someone. Neither one of them sounds much like a "mister" to me. Can you help?

As for the latter point, I think TM didn't call police because he didn't think a crime was being committed against him, and had his own plans to commit a crime. Some conjecture, sure, but if he was actually scared and peaceful, he could have gotten away, not hide in the shadows and chase someone down when he had the element of surprise.

Members of a neighborhood watch group are allowed to question people. It is not justification to attack them which is apparently what happened given the verdict.

Any member of the public is allowed to ask questions of anyone else, at pretty much any time, in any place they have a right to be. The person being questioned can generally just ignore them and keep on walking or whatever, but unless there's a Florida statute on point, GZ's neighborhood watch involvement wasn't important, he could just as easily have been a homeowner whose house TM was walking in front of.

Everyone is claiming the crime that night was Zimmerman "profiled" Martin. They seem to conveniently overlook the fact that the actual crime that night was when Martin attacked Zimmerman and forced him to defend himself. They are trying to make a civil rights martyr out of a violent teen who attacked a man who was just looking out for his community.

The whole "profiling" claim has been repeated so many millions of times. I can only gather it's some magic horrible word to one frequently outraged community, because it doesn't register with me. Doesn't federal-agency TSA have a whole department that specializes in profiling people, or something like that? Because, you know, certain kinds of criminals frequently fit certain profiles?

Where is the outcry for that UNARMED BABY and mother who were both shot. Guaranteed if a couple of rednecks teens shot a black baby in the face and killed him, we'd have schools named after that black baby.

No outcry in the media or the easily-outraged groups. What I gather is that horrific black on white crime is considered normal and not worthy of news attention (much like the more common black on black gang & drug killings). If anyone thinks I'm wrong about that, show me your evidence.

You might have justification in trying to escape the guy (or guys) pounding on your car with a tire iron. It's the guys you ran over 50 or 100 yards down the road that are gonna have you makin' little ones out of big ones.

For example: what if ahead of you there are also cars trying to get away, and every last protester, the whole lot of them, even the ones 50 or 100 yards down the road, was armed with a chain, bat, crowbar, etc., and was smashing windshields and yanking drivers left and right out of their vehicles, and in your attempt to get yourself and your family to safety you clipped some of them as well? What if someone unarmed ran in front of your car simply so you would slam on your brakes and come to a stop so that others could then surround you and smash your windows and pull you and your family from your car?

There are a lot of if's in that post. Every situation is different, so act accordingly.

Agreed. Simply too many variables to speculate on. And I'm not an attorney, LEO, or a prosecutor.

In a widespread violent civil disturbance, I have no idea how it would all get sorted out after the fact.

If it's me and family at risk and my only escape route is driving to safety, I'm putting it in gear, laying on the horn, and headin' for daylight. I'll take my chances with the law ... after I'm back at the house.

I don't think it matters why the young Martin didn't call 911. Maybe he didn't trust the cops because all his prior contacts with law enforcement had been negative. Who knows? The only person who does is dead.
