That is something that just gets my goat. (Not against you Whiterabbit, the media)

Who cares what it "means"? It is how the word is used that is the problem.

"WOP" means With Out Papers, referring to Italian Immigrants that didn't have their immigration papers. But when it is used in a demeaning racially charged way it is a slur.

"Nigger" is a poorly pronounced version of Negro. Which is just a description of skin color. But when it is used demeaning racially charged way it is a slur.

"Faggot" is a term for a piece of wood. When it is used to denote a person's sexual orientation it is a slur.

"Bananna" is a term for a piece of fruit. When it is used to describe an Asian person it means Asian on the outside but Caucasian on the inside which is a slur.

"Cracker" actually has several meanings. From a group of farmers in Florida to a reference to poor whites having to eat cracked corn. When it is used in the phrase "Creepy Ass Cracka" it is not a descriptive term it is a racial slur just like all the rest.

I could go on and on.

It sickens me that we are doing anything other than DEMANDING as a society that hate speech is wrong, regardless of who utters the slur.

The media and everyone else should be treating the word "Cracker" the same way as all the other hate speech that is out there.

Wrong definition of "nigger". Jews were called "niggers" in the Pale of the Settlement, Poland. If you can find a website of Stalin's speeches he used the term "nigger".

I was too this by several old Jewish guys when I lived in Michigan. They found it very ironic that they "were once niggers living in ghettoes now its blacks who are niggers living in ghettoes."

He grew up as a pampered white boy raised by his white grandparents in f'n Hawaii of all places. The fact this SOB is trying to relate to a hood rat from the "Dirty South" is so comical its downright offensive. The post you are commenting on was a re-post from a the BHO thread several years ago. I personally have a problem with a president who was a huge pot head when we have millions imprisoned in this country for doing the same thing.

I didn't watch the trial and if the following is mentioned already then I missed this issue.

I am listening to this local radio station and a liberal program is on. A call in is speaking about Martin and she stated that no DNA from Zimmerman was found on his hands. Of course this implies that Martin did nothing to Zimmerman. I am not doubting Martin did beat up GZ but I need some info from those who did watch the trial.

Mainly for apologetic reasons I am asking this question in case I do get into a debate over this verdict one day this topic may come up.

Evidence could have been handled better.

That said, there is eyewitness testimony corroborating GZ's account that TM on top of GZ "raining down blows". To imply or suggest that TM did not strike GZ is in the realm of the absurd.

Absolutely. I just have this sinking feeling this whole debacle isn't going away anytime soon and I am bound to come upon someone unhappy w/the verdict. I like to have as many bases covered before stepping off into a debate.
