LaRue LT110 Eotech QD Mount Q's..

What is that screw up front? What does it do? Is this something that makes the mount "semi-permanent (not QD)"? Does it make it harder to remove than other LaRue mounts? Does the screw deserve loctite? Is it adjustable, or even a screw at all, or is it red lock-tited in there by LaRue as a means to easing assembly of whatever it's doing?

How is RTZ? Surely someone with a magnifier has tested one. It only has that one lever at the back, looks a bit shifty to me...

What does the sight picture look like through an XPS3? Is the ENTIRETY of the large ghost-ring aperature in the sight picture lower 1/3, or does the bottom "edge" of the window cut it off, making it like you're looking through 5/6th of a circle, kindof like some 1/3 lower witnesses with an Aimpoint T1 do. Pictures would be tits!

What is the general consensus, here? Is this a "band-aid" for QD/riser on an Eotech, or is it "shoulda come from the factory this way" regarding integration/fit/function?

Can it take a heavy whack, given that the front isn't levered, too?

Does the allen/hex head screw from Eotech screw into nylon/lock washer, or is it steel-steel that can be lock-tited once you place it on the LaRue?

    Thanks!

The screw up front holds a ball bearing detent in place. It helps hold the mount in place while you close the lever. It won't hold the mount in place if the lever pops loose while actually moving, if thats what you're asking. You could probably do without it, but I'm not Mark Larue, or an engineer. I'd probably avoid trying to adjust it (haven't tried), and I'd almost definitely not Loctite it.

I haven't done any solid testing, but occasionally taking it off for whatever reason, it seemed to RTZ for me, or at least to the point where I still couldn't tell if it was the mount or me.

The bottom of the EOTech's window cuts off the bottom of my irons (DD fixed). It cuts off less than half of the circle; I can still make good hits out to 100 looking through the window and using my irons. One of the reasons why I like QD is that I can knock the optic off and see my irons better if situation allows.

What is the general consensus, here? Is this a "band-aid" for QD/riser on an Eotech, or is it "shoulda come from the factory this way" regarding integration/fit/function?
This is going to depend on usage. For my EOTech sighted gun, it does double duty as an around the property gun, and a teaching gun for my job. Since the bulk of the rifle shooters I work with and train use iron sights, I wanted a good set of fixed irons that I can shoot with, and still have a red dot on it for my own purposes, or to teach. Hence, the QD. I can also remove the optic, as stated before, to have a better view through the irons, if need be. May be a factor for some, not for others. In a sense, for me, its a "band aid", since the EOTech I bought (XPS2) didn't have QD capability.

Can it take a heavy whack, given that the front isn't levered, too?
Its pretty tough. I'd get the QD lever tight, though. Also remember that there's a connection between your optic and the mount itself, that may or may not be as strong.

Does the allen/hex head screw from Eotech screw into nylon/lock washer, or is it steel-steel that can be lock-tited once you place it on the LaRue?
I didn't check, so take this FWIW. I suspect that its steel on steel, since its user replaceable with a thumb wheel screw, and I haven't heard of anyone having issues with fit/lockup after tightening and loosening it more than a few times.
    Thanks!
    Hope that helped.
The advice above is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Thanks! I went with an EXPS3, though. I hope it's solid.
