The unfortunate reality of self-defense is that we may be faced with a lethal threat in low or fading light. Introduction to Low-light/No-light was developed off of what is taught in our intermediate courses, therefore it is required for students to provide documentation of prior training. The focus of the course is on implementation of handheld and weapon-mounted lights and techniques designed to increase the shooters confidence, competency and survivability in conditions of diminished visibility.

• Understand reasons for low-light training
• Safety considerations specific to low-light training
• Ocular anatomy and physiology
• Identify and define various lighting conditions and how they effect us
• Key features and selection of a defensive flashlight and support equipment
• Five primary flashlight applications
• The use of a handheld light as a search tool and deterrent
• The use of handheld lights with a handgun
• The use of weapon mounted lights with a handgun
• Balance of Speed and Accuracy with use of illumination tools
• Multiple target engagement
• Malfunction clearance in low/no light

Students will need:
• A functional and practical handgun chambered in 9mm, .40 cal, or .45 ACP with a sturdy, functional holster that provides adequate retention during fast-paced drills. Each student should have at least 4 working magazines.
• A quality, reliable handheld flashlight, purpose-built for self-defense (SUREFIRE PRODUCTS are the only products recommended by M3 Strategies)
• Weapon mounted lights on both the primary and secondary weapon are an excellent idea.
• Note pad and pen
• Appropriate range clothing
• Ear and eye protection
• A rigid belt capable of supporting your secondary weapon and spare magazines
• A holster and magazine pouch that will retain equipment when moving
• Tools, cleaning gear and weapon lube
• A willingness to learn
