    What's going on here??

    https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=7355

I read every one of these when I first joined this site back last summer. I mean I actually took the time to READ and comprehend. I sold a DPMS after I read this stuff. Knowing there were better options for the price. I run and USE a BCM carbine.

Now I can't help but notice when we steer members who were in my shoes towards a better direction ( Colt, BCM, DD, etc ) there are individuals who will spout off about how their (insert garbage brand) AR15 has 1k through it with no issues so its just as good and (insert proven brand) is overrated. Argument ensues.... Sometimes leading to childish remarks, etc.

I see this site more in an educational sense than entertainment. Every time I come here its rare I don't learn something new. Having a vast source of knowledge including some very skilled trainers, armorers, and "real world" end users is invaluable. It should not be taken for granted or ignored.

Not looking to start an argument, just a friendly reminder that's there is alot of useful info on here. The search button and stickys go a long way. Please don't get bent out of shape when member critiques your build. Most times they are trying to help you out and make your carbine better and are not trying to insult you, your knowledge, or your manhood.

    Stay safe.

When I joined this forum I thought I had the best AR on the market. Boy was I wrong. I now have a BCM on order from G&R, hope to have it in my hands in a few days. I've learned a lot from this forum and plan to learn a lot more in the months to come. I'm thankful for all the AR experience guys bring to this forum. It means a lot to a guy like me that is just getting his feet wet in the AR world.

    I feel the same way.When I found M4C I was going to get a RRA.After a little reading I have a DD lower and a BCM upper.

There are members here that take several classes a year or that teach those classes so they get to see a lot of brands of guns getting run pretty hard. They will shoot more rounds in one weekend then I will shoot in a year.

When they tell me that some brands are more likely to fail than others I listen.

A lot of info. can be found if one looks hard enough. One just needs to make sure what they come up with is current, since technology can change things almost overnight.

The problem is that most of us become emotionally invested in our purchases, and criticism is hard for many to take after dropping a grand or two on a product. Many try to justify their purchase and get defensive when others tell them its not up to par.

Pretty much unavoidable with all the smoke on the internet. A newby looking for info is not going to enter M4carbine as a search term and find the best source for the real skinny. Searching "AR15" brings TOS as the top result.

I just googled "Delton AR" and the results make it look like great bang for the buck. There is a reason so many repeat Buy Once, Cry Once. Fortunately I'm anal about researching and started with PSA and moved up from there. Now if only someone can explain why I feel the need to be working on three BCM builds when I have half a dozen great completed rifles already in the safe.

Und ve have a vinner! Couple that with so many people nowadays wanting an 'award ribbon' for everything they do and it can make for a rude awakening.

    .

    RMiller,
I feel your pain. I started a thread last week about the traits of a good AR. Except for a couple of postings, I think my intent was taken as a bunch of useless unnecessary “who gives a kaka” info.

I think with the instant gratification generation, they don’t want to take the time to answer the “why”, “how come” and “what if” questions for their selves.

    Oh well…maybe it’s just me….

i could not agree more, i was in the market for an AR earlier this year. prices were so high sky they werent funny. ($1450 for an m&p15 SPORT) i started doing research, and the best choices were BCM, Daniel Defense, Colt or Noveske. i was immediatley hooked on the noveske, but lacked the 2 grand. everyone has a colt, so i wanted to be "different" it was down to BCM or DD. i started digging deeper, watching LAV's vids. (as he supports both) I went on the DD site more often, and i was hooked. since for $1600 i had figured out that i was going to get thrice the rifle as a price inflated sw sport. i pulled the trigger, and needless to say, I LOVE THIS RIFLE! its tough and dependable, ive only put 200 rounds through it so far (will put more this weekend) but i know ive got a winner! i do feel sorry for those that bought the $1450 mp sport!! (gun store had 4, they all sold in a few hours! in april. )

Alright, I'm following. Maybe I was just raised differently than the majority. Maybe that's why I'm confused by all of this
