My first AR was a doublestar....
I did not know any better - I checked for things I thought were important, and they are, just not the whole package. I thought if it was properly staked in the right places... well you get the picture...
I dont add much here but I read EVERY single sticky... then applied it to my own knowledge and realized it was a piece of chit. I corrected my self and have since purchased a 6920 for me and then a middy BCM for the wife.
I was when I first bought that rifle a JUST AS GOOD AS guy...
But this forum educated me and now I cannot even read a gun magazine anymore because they aren't even worth using to line a cat box.
Thats why in another thread I got so offended when someone called a colt a mid-tier ok quality rifle, this is the place where the BS stops and gets called out.
Emphasis mine. There are far more that have some misguided idea that they're incapable of risking to answer the simple questions for themselves within a large body of info, that online searches are some sort of Heraclean task.
It's not a crime. It's needless. Simple question = simple search.
New(ish) info, complex problems, UNadressed questions. We want those. Guess what, punching in one's conceptual title to a thread is a pretty good way to see if it's been done before, or not.
Now, as for the flat-out, drive-bay statement "Use Search..." with nothing else...? THAT'S unhelpful, no question.
Teach the man to fish...
I'll not post "Use Search..." without having DONE such a search, posted the results AND how I arrived at them...so that they have an example of how bloody simple it is. I may not, however, spoon-feed them the answer, in lieu of providing the body of information in which the answer may be found.
I feel it's a better method than simply putting on the BossyPants and throwing "Use Search..." in somebody's face. I'm also not the only one who does that, or cites where something may be found, directly.
Until somebody else spends some time at a Byzantine-studies research library and has the opportunity to root around for information in any number of dead languages...nobody can expect to be taken seriously by acting as if punching "lubrication" or "sling" into an info field is gonna break their fingers in at each joint.
Ultimately, all members agreed, upon registration, to adhere the policies/practices of M4C. A certain amount of due-diligence is one among many of these. One further reaffirms this by the act of logging in. If that's not palatable, one might build a bridge, that one might get over it, or find a forum with a more nanny-state approach to things.

I am grateful for the information I have learned on this site and look forward to the times when I may contribute.
I have found the search button to be a great tool. There is tons of information that can be accessed with a little effort. Personally, I am hesitant to start threads without conducting a thorough search. I know it can get old to hear the same few questions from new members that have been discussed more than completely.
I do like to post in two situations: 1) When I feel I can contribute knowledge to a thread (particularly first-hand knowledge), or 2) When a theoretical discussion is taking place and there may be no right or wrong answers. I do try to qualify all of my posts with the type of experience or limit of my knowledge, as I do not want to give anyone bad information.
Thanks to those SMEs and more experienced members that are willing to help a guy like me! I hope to be able to contribute on a higher level to the body of knowledge on this site in the future.

Thank you sir I dont understand why someone only posts " use search button "" when they could have simply answered the question. There should be a couple of guys who can answer these simple questions and has the knowlage to answer and want to answer without their own personal decisions.. my search button dont work. Idk what the problem is.

I'm on my iPhone 95% of the time and the search button works about 50% of the time with my iPhone, I have no idea why. When I have a question ill pull out my laptop and use the search button and I always seem to find the answer im looking for. I've learned a lot by using the search button here.
