I can get some pics up this evening if anyone is interested.

I had similar markings on my brass from my carbine. I went to a heavier buffer, in this case, a 9mm. The markings went away, the brass now looks like it came out of my 20". Do you have a buddy with a heavier buffer you could try?

OP, I don't know about the rifle, but I have shot a lot of .223 Prvi and I have seen those same markings on the case heads, along with an abundance of brass "flakes" (shavings) on the bolt head and in the firing pin channel. I think the Prvi stuff just has some soft brass.

    hey bret,

i have observed the exact same results using both the privi green tip(62gr.) and the privi 55 grain loads .

case lots from '08 and '09
all show the same degree of deformation.

this is out of a bravo mid with bravo bcg using an A2 stock with rifle buffer.
actually several rifles in that same configuration.

a half case of lake city shows not one piece with similar deformation.

black hills blue box shows a little shine in those areas but no deformed metal.

my conclusion was the softer brass coming from that geographical reigion as the cause .

in the past i have shot yugoslavian 30/06 ball in my garand that deformed quite badly. so i have always thought the yugo brass was too soft in many calibers.
looks like the privi continues that trend.

another note on the privi worth mentioning is the presence of primer pocket gas blowby on 1 or 2 percent of the fired cases. barely noticable without magnification.

i use the privi ammo. no malfunctons to report.
