Trying to understand buffers and springs

I have a factory Spike's lower with the ST-T2 buffer and standard Spike's spring.
The barrel is an ARP 16" LW QPQ (Melonite) middy barrel. I am running a Spike's BCG and have shot all ammo with out problems when the factory Spike's barrel was on it. Due to medical reasons I have not been out to shoot the rifle yet so I do not know if it will also shoot all sorts of brass and steel cased ammo. Buffer exchanges make any difference as Harrison advertises the gas port is drilled to shoot the steel cased ammo. Since I have not shot it yet, would you think it might have problems with the way it is set up?

Thank you for any advanced info on the AR cyclic system

It should not have any problems, though each rifle has it's own particular tastes, therefore while it may run fine, it may not be optimal either.

Go shoot it before worrying about whether it needs to be adjusted/changed/fiddled with.

    Question

    Thank You.

Anybody using ARP barrels in their 5.56/223 Wylde builds?

This is one of Constructor's barrels, right? I dont know who else is running them here but I've always wanted to try one... Particularly his 12.5.

How does it shoot? How many rounds through yours so far?

It's more than buffers and springs. Gas ports and gas tube length have alot to do with it as well. Best thing to do is go out and shoot it. An ST-T2 is actually closer to an H1 in regards to REAL buffers.

The ST-T2 isn't favored by many on here. That being said a rifle can be ran on one.

Maybe 250-300. Upper was acquired just before things went crazy and I didn't do much blasting. Back surgery also fell into that time frame too.
I have sought various amounts of ammo and bullet weights. Just picked up some XM193. So far I like it, the LW part may let the barrel walk when it gets very hot. IDK yet.

When the gun was all Spike's from the factory, Middy 16" Govt profile, it would run anything I fed it
after the the first 150-200 rounds of LC M855.
Next rifle will be a Colt 6920, BCM, Centurion or DD. Never had a carbine length gas system,
so IDK if I will stay with a Middy or try a carbine. Even thought about a 20" rifle by BCM.

I've got both middy and carbine length gas tubes on my AR's...I've heard people say they notice a "softer" recoil on their middy's, but to be honest I can't really tell the difference. Then again my ARs are all set up differently so I can't truly make an apples to apples comparison. That being said, I love all mine the same regardless of gas tube length. Variety can be a beautiful thing
