What is the finish like on these? Is it a rough anodizing (like on most AR receivers) or smooth like on a Burris PEPR?

it looks like it would take a coat of paint well....

at first I was interested in using this for larger scopes that will stay affixed to my SPRish rifle. I don't intend to remove this so QD is not needed. It looks strong enough for lightweight scopes but I'll wait till the jury comes back on it's strength before I mount up a heavy scope in it...

part of the 5 oz. may just be from the QD mechanism and base...

/\ Thank you sir. How's the cheek weld? I have a riser for my Magpul stock. Do you need it to get correct height?

Using my Magpul CTR stock (no riser), I have no trouble getting a good cheek weld on my 30mm Aero mount.

Attachment 21376Attachment 21377Attachment 21365I've got a leupold Fx-2 2.5 ultra-light which has very long eye relief. had to bridge the hand guard to get enough eye relief with the stock at 4 clicks out , almost have a NTCH cheek weld you can see from my sight in that it's square to the receiver because the only adjustment I made was elevation, the 4 rounds to either side were my final adjustments then verified a 100+ yds. on the 4" dinger was able to get 3 consecutive hits . definitely happy with it because it fit the bill for a ultra light mount , just wish aero would make a "scout" mount for low powered optics with lots of eye relief something similar to the larue spr-e eye relief, sorry picture of rifle is to large will post one tommorow
