    cantilever mount at absolute co-witness?

I have a 2MOA Aimpoint PRO that I want to be able to mount a magnifier behind occasionally, however, with the QRP mount it's a weird height (between lower third and absolute cowitness).

Aimpoint's twist off mount lines up perfectly but there's no room for this optic, magnifier, and Troy BUIS together on the receiver so I'm looking at some type of cantilever mount for the PRO.

does anyone know if there is a cantilever mount that lines up with Aimpoint twist-off magnifier mount?..

    nope, lower third only.

that's why I'm asking, nothing I have seen lines up exactly with Aimpoint's twist-off magnifier mount, although it appears to be the same height as the QRP mount they use on the PRO. unfortunately, the PRO doesn't leave any room behind it for the mount and rear BUIS...

well here's another thought - with the PRO mounted all the way forward without bridging the rail gap, my magnifier base only lacks 1/16" or so to fit in front of the Troy rear BUIS.

does anyone know of a rear sight that doesn't project so far forward of the first rail slot as the Troy?..

    Lightbulb

ADM's absolute co-witness mount is the bee's knees. I have two Comp M2's and a Pro mounted on them - they should serve you well.

It's also not terribly 'oversized' or some such. Mount your magnifier as close to the rear sight as possible, stick your ADM mounted optic ahead of it, and you should be GTG.

ADM makes both lower 1/3 and absolute. Someone tell me why you want a magnifier on a reflex sight?? Sort of defeats the purpose for me. GH

    you're new at this, huh?

you're kinda right in that a RDS is capable of making good hits out to and past 100 yards but my, and other people's, reasons are for improved accuracy and positive target identification at distance. I want the ability to remove it to use as a monocular to see things that are not close to me, without having to aim the weapon at them.

most people use a flip-to-the-side mount but I want to use the Aimpoint twist-off mount.

ADM does not make a cantilever mount in absolute cowitness. that doesn't really matter because the both the PRO and the Aimpoint Twist-off mount line up with each other but are neither lower 1/3 or absolute, they're somewhere in between.

in the long run this may make little to no difference but I suspect it's the cause of POI shift I have been experiencing with a lower 1/3 FTS mount. I may be looking at the impossible dream here as it may be that the PRO is not possible to use with the twist-off magnifier mount and my choice of Troy BUIS. hope springs eternal...

KAC Micro is probably the lowest profile, least rail space taking BUIS I know of. Great sight picture, and adjustability as well.

Not really.. I ran some of the first dot sights ever seen in the SE 20 years ago! I'll ask you again.... Why run a magnifier on a red dot sight?? It just makes the dot and target larger.. What purpose does it serve?? GH
