Live cartridge stuck! .. Update! .. Page 4

Don't ask me how this happened because I have no idea. It is not my barrel. I was asked to remove this barrel from its upper (by a friend). This gets better, not only is the round stuck but someone took a GI cleaning rod and broke it in the barrel and then tried to get both the cartridge and the GI rod out using an aluminum rod. This thing is plugged from the chamber to within 7" of the muzzle. I think it is TOAST!

    - Reloads ... yes
    - Kroil down the barrel and around the chamber
    - Carbon remover around the chamber
    - Head is mangled by needle nose pliers
    - Yes, they tried to mortar the round out
    - This thing is major league stuck

Anyone have any suggestions for removal of the cartridge? I can't seem to find any tool made for this application (or this cluster F#@K!)

A slow, cool temp cut to remove that primer is a starting point. Slow and low.

If you can get that primer out, you can go after the case more aggressively... but if that primer ignites... there'll be a lot of frags spraying out of that extension.

I would take that challenge in a minute.

There was a thread not too long ago dealing with a live stuck case. I think it was dealt with by very carefully drilling a small hole to wet the primer & powder with oil to keep them from igniting. I did a quick search but haven't found the thread yet

Couldn't you just spray the primer with WD40 a few times and dead the primer?

I will have to look for the link, it may have been Ned saying it in that thread. But I remember people testing out soaking live roads with wd-40 and having a fairly high ignition rate.
