Question, for future reference: When drilling out primers, is it best to use the smallest drill possible? Any area or dead center? Basically, what are the best practices for this? Also, is it possible to angle drill past to avoid the primer (feedramp area) to aid in the removal/defusing of the powder. Obviously, this is a last resort & after attempts have been made to soak the round to "defuse" it.
Thank you, BTW

Ok, if it were me I wouldn't drill a live primer. I would center punch the rim .06" from the OD of the primer. I would then drill a .06 hole through the case head at low speed and feed until the hole was through. Then it would be possible to inject a light oil into the case to kill the primer. After the primer is dead you have more options. Once again if it were me I'd drill the head out with a 1/4" drill, empty out the powder, then dribble liquid nitrogen into the case to shrink it. It should fall out if the cleaning rods haven't jammed the bullet up against the leade.
This is perhaps worth a shot. I haven't tried this yet, but it might work. Take a can of compressed air, turn it upside down, (it will spray freezing liquid) and spray the cooling agent into the chamber and freeze the shit out of the brass from the chamber end. If you do it quickly enough and the barrel itself is relatively warm, it MAY allow easier extraction of the cartridge. Just something to try if all else doesn't seem to work.
